The Airborne Science Laboratory’s Swan Song

After 37 years and 158 data-collecting missions, NASA’s DC-8 Airborne Science Laboratory flies for the final time on May 15th. The DC-8 featured prominently in the climate-study efforts of the National Suborbital Research Center (NSRC), a collaboration between NASA’s Ames Research Center and BAERI. It will land permanently in Pocatello, Idaho, and will serve as a training tool for aspiring aircraft technicians at Idaho State University.
