BAERI Research Will Continue During Government Shutdown

BAER received a notice from NASA’s Shared Services Center today explaining that as October 1, “there are no longer appropriations for Federal Agencies, including NASA.  As a result, all NASA installations are forced to shut down with limited exemptions for specifically excepted activities.”  However, the notice went on to point out that If “cooperative agreement does not require access to a NASA installation or participation of NASA personnel in order to perform the instrument’s stated research, training, or educational objectives,” the recipient is “to continue to perform work under [the] grant or cooperative agreement” as long as funding is available.  Therefore, BAER’s research work in atmospheric science, biospheric science, astrophysics, astronomy, and other areas of fundamental scientific research will continue.

Further notices regarding the shutdown’s impact on research will be posted here as information becomes available.
